HIV/ AIDS treatment under the health insurance policy

In view of the provisions of Section 3(j) of the HIV and AIDS (Prevention and Control) Act 2017,

No person shall discriminate against the protected person on any ground including any of the following, namely:

(j)The denial of, or unfair treatment in, the provision of insurance unless supported by actuarial studies.

Now the insurers are mandated to provide the health claim such patients suffering from HIV and AIDS.

This shall be coming to effect from the 10th September 2018.

The IRDAI issued a circular Ref. No: IRDA/HLT/MISC/CIR/169/10/2018 dated 9-10-2018, to act from the immediate effect from the date of issue of circular.
